Review of Jac Olivol Moisturizing Body Oil
Do you want to use a moisturizing oil for your body skin, that gets absorbed quickly as if you had not applied any oil ! Then here is the moisturizing oil: “Jac Olivol”. I would request you before concluding whether it is suitable for you, please read the content till the end.
Jac Olivol is a herbal product of course, but remember it is not organic. Don’t get confused. Even a minimum content of a few herbs or natural things (we can say) in a product can be called as a herbal product. If you are ok with the herbal product then you may go for it. Please check out the "Jac Olivol's ingredient section" for detailed information. It is popular due to its quick absorbent nature. Unlike coconut oil and other commonly used massaging oils, it doesn’t make your skin look oily. Jac Olivol works fine on normal to dry skin, not ideal for oily skin type.
Here in India, body massage with massaging oils is an age-old practice. So many people would prefer a moisturizing oil rather than a moisturizing cream or lotion as a moisturizer. Herbal products can never go out of trend. There is always a demand for herbal/organic/natural products.
Ingredients of Jac Olivol :
It contains many useful herbal extracts from Haridra, Manjistha, Arjuna, Arachis Oil, Neem Oil, and Olive Oil. (Please refer to the image to check the ingredients ).
-> Contrary to its name suggests and label showing “with Italian olive oil”, I found the olive oil content is too less. One should keep a note here, Jac Olivol has nothing to deal with olive oil much. But yes it contains olive oil but as low as approximately 0.5% of the total content.
The ingredient olive oil has antibacterial and anti-aging properties. It also contains antioxidants and vitamins that protect and hydrate the skin.
-> The main ingredient is Arachis oil that is also known as peanut or groundnut oil (approx 9%) has great moisturizing properties, protects from UV rays, useful if having wrinkles, dehydrated dry skin. Arachis oil works great on dry skin.
-> It contains neem oil which is well-known for its anti-bacterial properties. It protects the skin against environmental toxins, cleanses dirt, sweat, and excess sebum from the skin. It acts as an anti-aging property also.
-> Haridra, Manjistha, and Arjuna together prohibit the skin to develop wrinkles, skin sagging, fight free radicals that damage the skin, protect the skin from external damages caused by air pollution. It also acts as a skin whitening agent.
How to use - Jac Olivol :
Take an adequate quantity (few drops required) of Jac Olivol. Simply massage it onto the body skin till it gets absorbed. It takes only few seconds, less time as compared to other massage oils.
In winters you can use it right after your bath. When the skin is just moist, not wet. Don’t towel-off completely after the bath. Massage Jac Olivol all over the body skin. It leaves your skin smooth, supple, nourished and radiant.
In summer, you can apply Jac Olivol oil on the skin before bath, massage until it gets absorbed, leave it to work for some time around 10 to 15 minutes. Then have your bath.
My suggestion is in accordance with the Indian climate. You can use it as per your convenience.
Pros :
- Gets absorbed quickly into the skin within a few minutes.
- Light on the skin.
- Won’t let the skin feel oily like coconut oil and other commonly used massaging oils.
- A herbal product. Though 10-11% of its total content is filled with herbal products.
- Contains BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene) which is a synthetic antioxidant present in a limited proportion that is around 0.01% which is acceptable.
- Anhydrous lanolin is a natural byproduct acts like a good lubricant/emollient locks moisture reducing water loss.
- Its pleasant sandalwood fragrance makes you feel refreshing the whole day.
- Lasts long. Mostly you need to apply Jac Olivol once in a day only.
- Available at a cheaper price.
Cons :
- It contains light liquid paraffin as a base material. Some studies say liquid paraffin is used to keep skin soft and smooth but it may have adverse effect on skin.
Therefore, Jac Olivol is a mixture of several herbal extracts and natural oils, having olive oil also but not as the main ingredient. But it contains Arachis oil more in proportion which is also a good moisturizer and effective on dry skin. And one should not ignore the base material, liquid paraffin. This combination only makes Jac Olivol quick absorbent and lightweight on the skin.
And yes, Jac Olivol is a moisturizing body oil. So please avoid it applying on face or hair.
