When does hair loss become a concern :

Nowadays, hair fall has become a common issue for both women and men, while women are more worried than men. Generally, it doesn't happen all of a sudden. But the gradual process makes you notice volume decreased. Remember a minimal decrease in hair volume with aging and hormonal changes is normal.

You must have known that hair fall up to 100 counts per day can be considered as a normal condition as the new hair grows instead of weak, dead, and lost(fallen) hair. You might have experienced oiling and washing hair may increase the hair fall count on that day in particular. So it is better to take hair fall count on an average basis. It can be done (I prefer) by averaging the number of hair strands you lose per day from one head-bath to the next.

I think one should visit a doctor as early as she/he notices hair thinning, patches (alopecia), loss of hair strands more than the normal, etc.

As far as hair fall is concerned, I would like to sum it up in two below steps.

--> When you see hair fall is less than 100 counts per day yet your hair volume decreases with time. Here the generation of new hair in place of dead hair may be less.

--> Another aspect of concern is if you experience hair fall count more than 100 per day or on an average. Some times it would be all right to lose up to 200 hair strands per day if new hair replaces the old ones. I think more than this should not be ignored.

Both the cases indicate your hair might need something to fix. If you tried everything externally to care your hair with no result, then you must try some good stuff to feed the body internally.

My story – What made me think about getting treated :

Around a year back from now, one day, after washing my hair I just pulled slightly some strands of hair down my fingers to hear the squeaky sound to check how finely my hair was cleaned. What I found was horrible. Shocked to see those hair strands in my palm wrapped my fingers. It was like an incident that I had not gone through that day before. I experienced hair fall that day before also but those were occasional. This incident made me feel not "something" but "a lot" were going wrong. I wanted to rush to a doctor just to check what had gone wrong.

Past to the previous year, what I remember, in extreme climatic conditions I tend to lose my hair.  When summer and winter were at their peak, when the climate was extremely dry, I experienced unusual hair fall. Hence, it is realized that yearly twice for around two months I usually experience hair loss. Later I experienced it every three months. Then probably every month.

I tried everything that a person usually commits to control it. I had tried different types of oil, shampoo and conditioner watching the television commercials, mixture of different oils and vitamin – E capsules reading tips available on the internet, different herbal products and cosmetics, etc. I tried every possible way to get control over hair fall. But no use in the long-term. It is not like that they did not work at all. Yes, those kinds worked but hardly for a couple of weeks or months. Then the day came when I found my hair loss was at its extreme as I described above. But thanks to "Patanjali Ayurved" that helped me throughout the year to control my hair loss. I hope the same in future too. If any variation occurs, don't worry, I will get back to you with an update. But I believe Ayurved doesn't treat any disease, rather it cures. The results are for the long-term here.

Why I preferred Patanjali Ayurved Treatment :

When I decided to visit a doctor for hair fall treatment, at first as usual, as most Indians do, allopathy treatment came in my mind. Then I remembered, I had already heard from many women that they had taken allopathic medicines to treat hair loss and the output was negative. According to them, medicines from allopathic worked for a couple of weeks only. Allopathic medicines have adverse effects too unlike ayurvedic medicines which must not be ignored. Ayurved belongs to herbal natural products and it provides many other advantages too. I mean if you are treating one disease, taking Ayurvedic medicines may correct other hidden abnormalities in the body as well. Where there is an option to be cured by using herbal and organic products, then why to go for Allopathy !

Patanjali, the leading ayurvedic products’ manufacturing brand in India. Patanjali Ayurved Limited produces herbomineral products that are widely accepted and appreciated.

Keeping all the above things in mind I thought why not to visit Patanjali Chikitsalay (clinic) to get treated!

Another noble thing about Patanjali Ayurved Treatment I want to mention is that here doctors treat their patients without taking a single rupee from them. Treatment is totally free of cost. You only need to pay for the medicines that you want to purchase. Many people sometimes unable to afford the fee of allopathy doctors and high-cost allopathic medicines. They can also take benefits from Patanjali Ayurved. Here doctors are more likely a social-worker than a doctor.

Patanjali Ayurved Medicines for me to treat hair fall include :

As I told you earlier,  I have decreased the hair fall count from 500 to 50 per day on an average (what do I mean by "average", please check above in "When does hair loss become a concern" section) successfully. For me, it was true happiness and I got the result within a month of medication and the hair fall is absolutely in control till now. When I say 500 average, the hair fall count lies somewhere in between 300 to 700 per day. When I say 50 average means it may be as low as 10 or a maximum of 80 fallen strands in a whole day.

At first, I was told to do a blood test to check some basic things like the blood sugar level, blood pressure, thyroid, hemoglobin level, etc. I followed the doctor's instructions. In my report every single thing was in range, no abnormalities were found. But yes, four years ago after my second childbirth I was found with my TSH level higher than 5 uIU/ml, which was later controlled and was in perfect range. I don't know what was the reason for my hair loss while everything was in right proportion. I have been practicing few Pranayams and Asanas for years but a bit irregular manner. I was told to practice all the eight types of Pranayams and some Asanas along with the medicines. Truly saying I was only sincere in taking medicines, not in practicing Pranayam, and Asanas. Still, I got a satisfactory result. But I believe the regular practice of Pranayams and Asanas will let you live a peaceful life with good physical and mental health.

Divya Kesh Taila : It is comparably thick and a mixture of many herbs. I found it very helpful in following things. 1) Keeping hair and scalp moisturized even after 3 days of hair wash. 2) It works great on treating itchy scalp and prohibit dandruff to develop3) Combination of Divya Kesh Taila and Patanjali Milk Protein Shampoo lets you avoid using conditioner after shampooing.

How to Use Kesh Taila : You can apply, massage, and allow it to rest for at least half an hour or you can keep it to rest overnight (as you wish) followed by hair wash. You can use it once or twice a week or every 3 to 5 days.

Some hair care tips I learned with time :
  • Don’t wash hair. Aim to clean the scalp. Apply shampoo on the scalp, make a firm leather, just move down the leather on the lengths of the hair. That is enough to cleanse the hair.
  • Don’t comb hair when it is wet. Wet hair is more prone to breakage.
  • Avoid plastic combs and brushes. These develop electric charges during friction with hair strands that dry up hair and make them brittle.
  • Preferably use a wooden comb, better if it is made up of "Neem" wood. It gives a better massage to the scalp, helps in hair growth, and prevents developing an itchy scalp. To buy Neem Wooden Combs CLICK HERE.
  • It doesn't need to comb 100 times a day if you experience hair fall. Combing and oil massaging both increase blood circulation to the scalp that helps hair growth. But remember repeated combing may increase hair fall and promote breakage. Better go for oil massage.
  • Use mild shampoos. Avoid repeated hair wash if not needed, to avoid drying and breakage.
  • Try to minimize chemical applications on hair through oils, shampoos, conditioners, styling gels, etc. Good herbal products may be great alternative.
  • Myth : Squeaky sound comes after washing hair indicates the hair is cleaned. Reality :  The squeaky sound indicates that the hair is over cleaned and dried out enough to get damaged.
  • Keep hair tied if possible. Loose hair plaits could be a better hair-styling option.
  • And we shouldn't forget good food, good sleep enhances hair-health.
We know Ayurveda (Science of Life and Longevity) - The ancient, traditional medical system of India does not treat a disease, rather it destroys the root cause of the disease and cures it naturally. While it is said that Ayurvedic medicines work slow but give you permanent relief, for me Patanjali Ayurvedic medicines worked fine on treating my hair fall giving me a positive result within a month only.
